Inclosed you will Please receive an Inventory of the Tools and Materials sent from this Place to Harpers Ferry, Also the Estimate of the expence incurred in doing it. The money I have promised the Waggoners to have in Readiness if possible for them against their Return which will be about the last of the Month, and have to beg you will Please send it to me by that time if Practicable. I was something at a loss from the tenor of your Letter to know whether I should send any Gun Stocks to Harpers Ferry but concluded it would be best to Send a few, the balance I have here can be sent at any time you may think Proper to direct it — In my letter to you of the 16th last August when calling of the money due to this Post I advised you that there was an order drawn on you in favor of James Callaway for Two Hundred and thirty dollars 7 Cents, and that so much ought to lie in your Hands to meet the Claim, this order has since been taken in and given him one for Four Hundred and Sixty one dollars 73 Cents which I Request you will Please Pay also as to bring in my last bimonthly coming down to the 31 of last month amounting to one Hundred & forty four dolla 86 Cents in aid of the Payment having Requested Mr. Simmons to Pay it to you for that Purpose — The money still due to this Post will be extremely acceptable to me when you can find it convenient to send it
