[Samuel Lewis 3 November Recd. 1790] War department, Nov.^r 3^d 1798. Sir, Yours of the 1.^st inst. I received; and thank you for your full information; that, and the very favourable accounts received last evening, has induced us seriously to determine of the propriety of removing to Philadelphia next week — please to have the enclosed delivered to M.^r Small, as soon as possible, as he is therein requested to come to Trenton to assist in packing our Books, Papers &^c — also the enclosed to M.^r Burton — Yesterday a public dinner was given to General Pinckney; attended by about 60 or 70 Gentlemen — Gen.^l Pinckney's toast, I am informed was — "The State of New Jersey — may the reputation she has gained for Justice, Integrity, and Military prowess, be perpetuated."
