Dear Sir, I am again relieved from anxiety for you and your Family's Wellfare by your letter of the 20.^th Ultimo this moment come to hand; yours of the 15.^th Ultimo covering Jacob Death's Receipt for forty Dollars was handed me by Jacob on the 29.^th; he has returned in time to descend the River on board the Galley: — She being still detained by want of Water. — The Quarter Master General is still here, he intends shortly to beat the seat of Government which I presume will again be at your City. — Some People are anxious to know how the old Officers in Staff Department will be effected by the Appointments to be made in the new Army — I will thank you for your opinion respecting it generally. — I feel very uneasy with respect to the Business that Col.^o Forrest has transacted for me — I had hoped that you could have obtained Payment of my Services in Ordnance & Cloathing Department; together with that of the Commissary Department, which would have been more than sufficient to balance Forrest's Claim — I trust that on the Return of the Public Officers to the City, you will be [strikethrough: rble] able to effect that Business.
