Sir Enclosed you will receive the Muster and Pay Rolls of the Forces at this post for the Months of September & October last. And also my Account Current No 10 by which there is a balance due to the United States of D'^rs 7 [undecipherable] which I hope you will find right. Some time previous to the death of John Brown he drew several orders on me, for the payment of his debts in Garrison to the amount of D'^rs 12 [undecipherable] which sum I advanced to him for that purpose taking his duplicate receipts. — On the 11^th September he died suddenly, when only D'^rs 10 [undecipherable] was due. — This I have charged in my Account Current & credited to the left of the difference. Surg. [undecipherable] died on the 13^th October having made a will in my presence, leaving D^r [undecipherable] his Executor. — I have seen the Wills complied with — except a balance of pay, yet due from the United States to the Estate.
