Col Sargent has requested me to forward to you such information as it may be in my power to give, with legal documents, respecting a suit pending between him & Govr St Clair of ye North Western Territory. As I am unable to afford him any information respecting ye cause, I conceived it might be important to him that you should be informed of it. I have therefore enclosed you my letter to him unsealed. When you have read it, be so kind as to seal & forward it.
