[undecipherable] 1804, R.P.C. 101810] [384] Staunton October 17 1798 Sir I have received your letter of the 24^th ult p^r John Ellison (Wagoner) with the clothing as mentioned in the invoice You have only sent fourteen Privates vests, and no Knapsacks or Canteens. The Privates Woolen Overalls (twenty one in number) consists of nine different colours, I presume they were intended to be Uniform. These Omissions I allude to the derangements which must have taken place in consequence of the fever I have also received from Major Langham. One Drum, One Horsmans & seven common Tents, seven axes & seven camps Ketles. I was expecting arms but none has been received As the vests, Knapsacks, Canteens &c are so very necessary, and cannot well be dispensed with, perticularly if my recruits should be ordered to march.
