Dear Sir,
By your Letter this moment received I have the very great pleasure of knowing that you & Family were well on the 5th Instant.
The DrMrGen. being advised by my letter to him that Genl Wilkinson had transmitted me a requisition for a considerable Quantity of Stores (and of which you were informed by my letter of the 12thmo) directs me to suspend making any farther provision in that Business. the following is an Extract of the DrMrGents letter Viz — "By a letter from the General am informed that he directs you to purchase a number of Articles to be forwarded to Natchez on Supposition that I would be on my way to join him" — "As I shall be soon at Pittsburg and as many of these Articles have & shall be sent forward from Fort Washington, you will delay the purchase of any part of the Articles untile my arrival" — I cannot determine how far the above Extract ought to affect the Requisition I transmitted to you in obedience to the General's Instructions to me —
