Order of Stores to Captain Gibbs

Shepherds Town Octr 11th Major Samuel Hodgdon By Post Philadelphia or Trenton Elias Langham 11th Octo 1790 Recd 17 Shepherds Town Octr 11th 1798 Sir, I have just recd yours of the 25th of Septr ordering certain stores to Staunton to the address of Capt Gibson. The order shall be completed with [undecipherable] the stores on the way in three days - such Articles as are ordered of which there is now suitable on hand, will be purchased, and the account thereof together with the expense of Transportation rendered at the end of the present quarter. When I forwarded my returns and accounts, I did not tell you that I had recd some damaged clothing from Capt. Lewis - These articles being entirely unfit for service. I declined to return them because ’tis unnecessary to keep such articles on hand. P S Please review Capt. Bishops receipt for the articles forwarded him at Winchester. E L
