West Point, Oct. 10^th 1795 Sir I have received your letter of the 4^th instant. Since I wrote you on the 30^th ultimo, I have, by Lieutenant Rodrigues, transmitted my duplicate receit, for the pay, &c for August 1795, to the Supervisor of New York. I enclose to you the muster and pay rolls of this garrison for the last month accompanied by Lieutenant [undecipherable: probable reading Dransy's] usual certificate, and by an abstract of retained actions due on the 3^th ft. By the sentence of a general court martial, held at West Point on the 10^th of September, 1795, Edward Wilbur of Captain Littlefield's company, and Jacob Baker, [undecipherable] John Garish, and John Myers of Captain Ingersoll's company, deserters, were, besides punishment, condemned to pay out of their pay, due at the time of their respective desertions, and, in default of which, out of their monthly pay, due since they have surrendered themselves, or have been apprehended, all damage, which may have occured to the United States in consequence of their desertion. I have, in conformity to the said sentence, placed them on the pay rolls, that you might deduct any sum, which may have, on their account, been through your office, charged to the United States. Wilbur and Baker deserted from Oswego in May last; Garish from West Point in autumn 1796; and Myers from the same place in July, and again under the name of John Sliter from Captain Head at Easton in August or September 1798.
