R P O 40618] [Address: Major Hodgdon] Germantown October 1. 1798 Dear Sir Your letter by Stephen has given me great pleasure indeed — I have frequently enquired but could never hear since the Young Woman was at our House, it's a great Mercy that you & Family are preserved and I hope you will continue to enjoy Health [undecipherable] surrounded as it were by Death — I have so far recovered from a severe Illness as to be able to go out & I have the pleasure to [undecipherable] both our Families are doing well — My good Lady has been kind enough to present me with a charming little Girl both as well as can be expected — M^r Baker is yet to the Southward — I had neither of the Articles you mention but sent my Young Man about the Village & found you [undecipherable] returns of Stephen [undecipherable] the best he could procure for the Money the Flannels, as [undecipherable] Bill annexed.
