R.P.O.401810.] [343] Dear Sir, I have this moment the very great pleasure of knowing by your Letter of the 21^st Instant that you had at that time escaped the dreadful Scourge of your City. I hope the late change of Weather will be the Means of Checking the Malady, perhaps of dispelling it altogether. I trust however that you having been mercifully preserved so long, will not lead you to imagine that you & Family to be invulnerable — Jacob Death poor man laments the loss of his wife he is continued here & wishes the 20 Dollars per month paid to his father in law for the use of his Children — Two Waggons Late the property of James Hamilton — arrived on the 21^st with public property and unable to return without assistance — I have in order to enable Matt^w Hamilton Brother of the deceased to return with the Waggon to Philad^a advanced twenty dollars to him which you will please to note at Settlement of transportation Acc^t & place it as a Credit — NB you will find Matthew Hamiltons Receipt Enclosed — he expects to take charge of & continue to conduct two of the Teams and desires me to request you to extend your favours to him in the same manner you did to his deceased brother — You will please to observe that one of the Liquor Cases brought by Hamilton is so much damaged as to be useless Its value is therefore to be deducted from Hamilton and another case purchased & sent forward for the 2^d M[ajor] Gen[eral] — Enclosed you will find James Hartford's Receipt for three Barrels marked Jonathan Williams and which Gen^l Wilkinson directs me to send to you with his request that you will be pleased to have them delivered as directed to Jonathan Williams — but the Gov. dont say who is to pay the transportation — I am Dear Sir your Obedient Servant Isaac Craig Samuel Hodgdon Esq^r Philadelphia
