Sir, I have received a letter from George Fleming informing me that there is not a Charlesville Musquet at West Point, that has not been in service and repaired since, consequently none in his opinion fit for Patterns — This has been a great disappointment as a person was sent for six Musquets to serve as patterns for Contracts in Vermont. I request you to cause six Musquets to be furnished as soon as possible to Nathaniel Brush Supervisor of the Revenue, at Bennington Vermont, and to inform me how you propose to have the thing effected. — Mr Francis informed me some time since that the whole or at least a large quantity of the Salt Petre imported from Hamburgh, has been worked up and sold by the person who had it in Custody. — Please to inform me of all the circumstances of this business. — I am with consideration Sir Your mo.
