[Docket, upper right, rotated: Pittsburg / [undecipherable] / [undecipherable] April 179[8] / [undecipherable]] [No ___________] [undecipherable] [undecipherable] figure [undecipherable] [undecipherable] [undecipherable] the cipher [undecipherable] [undecipherable] Pittsburg 14^th April 1798 Sir, Your letter of the 7^th instant just received affords me the verry great Pleasure of knowing that you & Family are at that Safe though Still in the midst of Eminent danger — I have received some of [undecipherable: Fenno's?] Papers the Last of which [undecipherable: interlineation] informs me the Publication by [undecipherable] is discontinued, that the Editor fell a Victim to the prevailing Malady the Public will Sustain a Loss not to be repaired perhaps by the [undecipherable] — I have [strikethrough: therefore] found it necessary in Order to enable me to take up several Bills Drawn by Col^t W^m Harrison on the [undecipherable] Gen^t. and also to discharge the Claims against the [undecipherable] of the Parts to Draw on You at ten days sight viz on the 19^th in favor of [Jn.?] Hamshire for a two hundred Dollar and three days in favor of Alex^r. Mc.Claughlin for five hundred Dollar which be pleased to Pay & charge on [undecipherable] — I have this Morning by Express from [undecipherable] [undecipherable] Received A Letter from Gen^l Wilkinson dted the 10^th [Ultin?] and A Confirmation of it on the 19^th at the Mouth of the Ohio from whence at [undecipherable] next morning he was to Descend the Mississippi. The Gen^ls letter Enclosed A Requisition for Quartermaster Stores & Ordnance Store which he has directed me to have forwarded without A moments unnecessary Delay and such of the Articles as cannot be provided at this place he directs [one?] to make the necessary [undecipherable] and therefore I have to beg of You to pay immediate Attention to the Enclosed Indent which Contains Such articles of the Generals Requisition as are not now on hand nor cannot be procured at this place — I presume the Generals Letter to the Secretary of War which goes forward by Post this day will justify his making his Requisition — And I trust no neglect will take place on our part — I am with great Esteem Sir Your Obedient Servant [Signature: undecipherable] Sm^l.
