Whereabouts of My Two Chests of Tea?
Document 1798Hodgdon asks Acheson to inquire of Mr. Skinner if he has any knowledge of the location of Mr. Easton to whom was delivered Hodgdon's two chests of tea.
227 Philadelphia 14th, September 1798 Sir, Today I received your letter of the 5thinst, I had previously received one from Mr. Gaillandett on the same subject, I will pay attention the the draft when it appears, as yet I have not seen it. A Mr. Skinner who formerly lived on Muskingum & traded traded to Orleans; now lives (I beleive) in your neighbourhood if so, shall be oblidged by your asking him whether he knows what has become of Mr. Gaston, to whom he delivered my two chest of Tea. I cannot learn anything of him, & indeed I know not of whom to inquire.
