Sir,
I have to request, that you will forward as soon as possible to the address of John Kilty Esquire, Supervisor of the Revenue at Baltimore, Six Muskets of the Charleville Model, and of the best of the kind in the public Stores, to serve as patterns for small arms, which certain persons in the State of Maryland have contracted to fabricate for the use of the United States. The Muskets must be packed up in such manner as to shield them from injury, and if there is no vessel on the point of sailing for Baltimore, you will in that case send them by the land and Water Stage. —
