[Major E Langham / A [fifteen?] — / [suppo]sed 8 Octo 1790 / Ac En Dito / 327½] [Received from State Dep[artmen]t Nov 2[undecipherable] / R P [undecipherable] 1800] [Address: Major Samuel Hodgdon] Baltimore Sept. 8^th 1790 Sir / Since I have been at this place I have drawn on you for monies to replace in part the expenditures of Transporting the Stores ordered to this place — I have also drawn on the Sec[retary] of War for 400 Dollars — you know I have rec'd no money from the [undecipherable] [undecipherable] [July?] last except what you may have paid to Mess[r]s Baker & Comegys which I hope is the amount of their draft — you also know from the nature of the business at my front there must be money enough due me to [undecipherable] to [undecipherable] the draft on the Sec[retary] of War, therefore if he consults you on the occasion you may with propriety say the bills ought to be paid — I shall be glad to hear from you informing me where my Acc[oun]ts [will?] be paid — I lament the unfortunate situation of Philadelphia — Our friend Major Bedinger no longer wishes to be my tenant in Office at Shepherds Town. — Since I wrote to you he is Appointed Clerk of our County, which office is worth 5,000 a year [undecipherable] provided I have informed the Sec[retary] of War that I will continue to attend the safe keeping of the Stores here as usual your ob[edien]t Ser[van]t E Langham [Major Hodgdon.]
