Sir,
I have received your note. You may without apology, write to your friend through me as you propose; the rumour relative to the removal of my Office is like many others circulated here, untrue. I have not been absent half a day from my Office, since yours was removed.
Be pleased to inform the Secretary of War, that the [undecipherable: probable reading: Imple]ments, and Sheet Iron for Nap. Homes was sent to Alexander Smith Esqr of York, and by him received and sent to Hereford as usual long ago. I wrote to Mr Ames and informed him when he might expect its arrival at Hereford and desired him to make provision for getting it from thence to Springfield.

I have countersigned the order & sent it to the Storekeeper who will deliver such parts of the order as are in the Store, Viz: Muskets & Bayonets, Grape Shot, & Musket Balls. 6 pound Balls we have some. You will send in some person to receive the articles and give a receipt for them, they will apply at the Store on Stummetz's Wharf.
