Philadelphia 7th September 1798 Sir Your letter of yesterday’s date is before me. The 8 Muskets of the Charleville Model to serve as patterns shall be carefully packed up & forwarded to Providence without a moments delay. Death is still making havoc, this morning Colo. Jno. Moylan fell a victim to the prevailing fever & this moment I am informed Mr. Fenno is taken ill. In mercy to his family I hope he will be spared. With sentiments of esteem I am Sir &c Samuel Hodgdon Oliver Wolcott Esqr.
