Philadelphia 6^th September 1799 Sir, I have received your two letters of the 8^th inst. I know not where Cap^t Cushing resides, but I will enquire & if found will endeavour to get the Marque & forward it as requested. The Arms bacountment shall be forwarded to South Carolina to the number of musket battery ordered, such as we have in the Magazines, their kinds are known to you by my former communications. We have neither 9 p^d Shot, in Store here. 4 pounders we have. A quantity of Powder is it seems directed to be purchased at Charleston, from which as soon as I am informed of the persons name who has it in charge, I am requested to forward a quantity equal to 400 rounds for each of the above Pieces, but the number of Pieces are not inserted above. The 9 & 6 pound Shot may be shipped from Manchester in Virginia, or West Point, as may be determined on. A considerable number of each size lay at Mount Hope Furnace in the Jersey, they had better be ordered to New York from whence they may be sent any where at small expence. No Anvils or Stationary have been received of the Purveyor.
