Sir, Philadelphia 5^th September 1792 This moment I am favoured with your two letters of the 1^st & 4^th inst. With respect to the goodness of the Articles you mention, shall only observe, the transportation of them only belonged to me. I will however enquire of the Store Keepe how such as you describe came to be forwarded. I am much supposed at the information relative to the Cloathing. It was carefully packed up, and put on board the Sloop Salome Capt Willis, bound for York, the Captain on delivery of the Packages promised to come up to the Store, & sign the Bills of Lading & receipt as usual, but never came, & the only Clerk then remaining at the Store, being taken ill the same evening prevented his calling on him to compleat the business. The Clerk is now well, he says the Capt told him he knew you very well, & would safely deliver the Packages to you. Enclosed you have the Clarks written declaration which if not sufficient shall be followed, by his deposition, & the Draymens also immediately.
