I cannot understand the 19^th Voucher which is M^r Shutes Acc^t. The whole amount is £24.10.0, but reduced by a credit of the 1^st June last of £7.11.0 to £16.19.0. On examining my Books I find a charge in your last Account for a payment made on that date to M^r Shutes of £22.3.7 purporting to be for the Wharfage of [undecipherable: probable reading "Cordage"] & Shed, & freight of 997 lb^s of [undecipherable: probable reading "Cordage"] to New York. Before I can adjust the Account I must request you to explain the business to me. — The sum charged for trouble appears enormous, but I perceive M^r Barnes has power to bring it to what may appear to be reasonable.
