Sir,
I inclose you muster & pay rolls of the ordnance detachment for the last month— also said detachments receipts for its February, March, April, May & June pay, amount two hundred and seventy three dollars & 62 cents — likewise Thomas Hughes's accounts & receipts for blacksmiths work for the artillerists & engineers at this garrison from the first of last January to the 5 of last May, amount one hundred and thirty nine Dollars & 56 cents — I have not made an entry [strikethrough: to] in my books of the money I paid Hughes. — I arrived here the 13th ultimo, & have been since so much immerged with public business from the first moment as to prevent my arranging the remainder of my vouchers: I hope in a few days I shall be able to attend to them. —
