Sir I received your letter of the 1st Inst enclosing Muster & Pay rolls of the detachment under your command for March & April 1798. which have undergone examination & the following alterations have been made on the latter, 8 dollars has been added for pay of Samuel Snowden Private mustered present & pay not made up by you notwithstanding this, if there is any just cause for withholding his pay you will not fail to do it. the pay of Charles Wayman & William Terry who are discharged has been deducted amounting to ten [undecipherable] Dollars & 00/100. these alterations leave an amount due of five hundred & forty one Dollars & 00/100. which you will receive from Daniel Stevens Esqr supervisor [undecipherable] Charleston on giving him the necessary receipts holding yourself accountable
