Document 1798This is the invoice included in the letter to General Washington informing him of the stationery being sent to Mt. Vernon.
194 Philadelphia 23d, August 1798 Sir, By order of the Secretary of War, I have purchased and herewith send to your address the Stationary inserted in the enclosed Invoice. I have been very particular in making the purchase, & I hope the whole will answer your purpose, and meet your acceptance. With respectful consideration I am Sir your most obedient Servant Samuel Hodgdon Intendent of Stores of the U S.
