Philadelphia 23d August 1792
Dear Sir.
Not knowing how long you may be detained at Cecil. I have thought it best to enclose the letter to your address which I received on the 22d inst. I am ordered to send from Providence to Goat Island 4 twenty four pds cannon; the calibres to be as nearly of a size and all to be as near the true dimensions as may be. I am also to send from the most convenient Magazine 7000 lbs Cannon Powder and implements for all the Pieces. the whole to the address of Capt Wm Littlefield. The implements I shall send from hence to New York, and shall request Colo Stevens to reship them with the Powder, and I am thinking to write to Littlefield to go himself and pick out the Guns. Tell me if this is not the best arrangement to insure dispatch.
