12% Samuel Hodgden Esq. Philadelphia General Wm Irvine 20 August [indecipherable] 1790 Carlisle Aug. 20th 1790 89 Sir The moment I notified Gurling & Kempton that the draft was in my hands Gurling called on me and promised to pay me the money in a week; I thought it best to wait so long as by a suit it might possibly be suspended several months The money is now ready for your order- chief part in silver, it rests with you to get it down, as I know of no person to send it by- the fever for a time will prevent traveling to the city My son requires money from the War department perhaps you can manage it in that way- indeed if he had money & clothing I am persuaded he can have his company full in a very short time I am Sir Your Obed. Servant Wm. Irving Saml. Hodgden Esq
