Sir
The packages that come with this have been waiting for a considerable time for transportation but none has been found in the deserted state of our City. I despair of finding any, under these circumstances I have concluded to send them to you to forward, perhaps you may be able to find a water transportation, if that is not expected: I request you would send one of your two Horse waggons which will be fully equal to the weight and in this way the expence will not be great — Let the enclosed letter to Capt. Read be forwarded with the Packages as it contains the Invoice —

Sir,
By order of the Secretary of War, I send to your address the Arms Accouterments and Clothing inserted in the enclosed Invoice, I had no other way to get them forward but through my friend Mr Peter Hunt of Trenton as no Easton Boats have been here since the order was given — In this way I expect they will shortly get to hand and in order, of which you will please to advise me —
