Stamped: No. [undecipherable] / Received / from / [undecipherable] / [undecipherable] 1894. / R[ecord] No. 401810] Pittsburg 10^th August 1798 Sir, Your letter of the 9^th instant accompanied by five of Fenno's Journals is received, and enclosing a Receipt of Derry Ryasin for the Mare rode by Hanley the Express, whom I charged to be careful of that valuable Mare which was in excellent condition when delivered to him. On the 4^th instant two of James Hamilton's Waggons in charge of Hugh Spear arrived with Cloathing for the 1^st Regiment. Dca. and Spear being, as usual, unable to return without assistance I advanced him 20. dollars for which you will find his receipt enclosed — That sum you will please to place to my credit. In order to supply Captain Turner with Cloathing for his Recruits I have been under a necessity of opening a Package addressed to Colo. Hamtramck & Box N^o 12. being a — good done [undecipherable] I concluded it most proper to take the supply wanted from its contents or perhaps to appropriate the whole of it to the upper posts. It is therefore I presume necessary that you replace to the [underline: First Regiment] in contents of that Package. A Draft of Captain William William H.
