Accountants Office August 8^th 1798 Sir In the absence of the Accountant I have to acknowledge the receipt of your letter to him of the 4^th Instant enclosing Muster and Pay Rolls for July of yourself and Recruits and three Receipts for Bounties &^c paid by you, the former has undergone examination and from the amount stated by you has been deducted pay of Joseph Pope four dollars for same reasons assigned in the Accountants letter to you accompanying the Pay for June, Pay made up for Thomas Hill deceased eighty cents, the same as well as all other back pay due to his Estate to be paid to his legal heirs at this Office, and an overcalculation of five cents on pay of William Brooks, these deductions leave an amount of Seventy three dollars and fifty five cents which you will receive from Nicholas Fish Esq^r Supervisor at New York on your giving him the necessary receipts holding yourself accountable, the latter are filed as usual until the settlement of your Recruiting Account.
