I wrote you last post which I beg leave to refer respecting the settlement of the Recruiting Accounts. I am informed there has been a general order for allowing the Men some weeks to encourage them to Enlist, this I Suppose has been done for the good of the Service, but it ought to meet the Approbation of Government, and then the Subordinate branches of the War Office should be directed to conform to it. Is it not proper for the Officers when they make their Settlements to lodge the Inlistments with the Accounts? for this, I have enquired
