Pittsburg July 28^th 1798 By Express from Head Quarter Fort Washington, which arrived late last night with dispatches for the Secretary of War and which goes forward this morning I send forward a list of articles which the General desires me to request you to procure for him & send forward as early as possible. The Generals letter to me was dated the 17^th instant at which time he was on board his barge prepared for Fort Massac. This will be handed you by Mr. Stanley the express [who] will return immediately. I have advanced Mr. Stanley [undecipherable] of his Expences 20 [undecipherable] and have given him a very valuable roan mare in lieu of the one rode by him which is unfit to proceed.
