[undecipherable] A [undecipherable], [undecipherable] of your acquaintance gave a handsome Dinner last Saturday to Colonel [undecipherable] [undecipherable] fuller approbation of his conduct in Congress and as our Representatives was not ask'd [undecipherable] how much his conduct has been disapproved — [undecipherable] Dinner has made great noise in town particularly among the friends of the latter who look upon it as a great affront to him — but when the toasts came out in Yesterdays evening paper the noise and talk [undecipherable] increased prodigiously, as he is reflected on most severely in many of these toasts — very probably a Dinner will be given to him by a certain set of People here, and I suppose they will make great exertions to insure his election in October — I have not heard of any one that means to oppose him, tho there are here of leisure and talents, perhaps [some] Person may come forward [undecipherable], and the most able [undecipherable] of [undecipherable] You have enclosed the toasts which were given by old [undecipherable] with great animation, and with much respect Dear Sir I am faithfully yours & [undecipherable signature] [Back Stock matters on the decline; indeed every thing of the kind must tumble.]
