Philadelphia 30 July 1798. Dear Sir. I received the letter you did me the honour to write me in New york on my return from Mount Vernon. I shall, be assured, attend to all your recommendations, especially to some of them; and altho' I cannot vouch for results I will for endeavours. We have no late news from Europe. Small commotions appear at tim in the northern nations [strikethrough: of europe], but without being followed with thunder.
