Pittsburg 27^th July 798 I am this moment favored with your letter of the 19^th instant. The Materials for the [undecipherable] Galley provided & contracted for shall be taken care of in the manner you have directed. The Galley now on the Stocks intended to have launched tomorrow had the Water been sufficient at the end of the Ways to have floated her the Alleghany being lower than ever known at this Season. The place where the Gallies are built was pointed out by the General. A frame building 65 feet long was erected by order of the General, so as to cover the Galley & workmen together with additional buildings for Smith Shop and Saw [undecipherable]. These buildings have been erected at considerable Expence and in Order to secure them against the Winter floods & Ice off the Alleghany it is necessary that a Wharf 120 feet long be built, Materials for which are by order of the Q. Mr. G. mostly provided and some men are now employed in constructing it. The Quarter Master General embarked for head Quarters on the 22^d instant. You will find this accompanied by a general return of Stores at this Post for the last Quarter Year, ending the 30^th of June & which Sir, I have to beg of you to permit Mr. [undecipherable] Hodgson to have the use of.
