I receive your letter of the 11th Inst & have agreeable to your directions, received from John Kelly, Esqr. two hundred twenty one dollars & fifty two Cents, it being the Amount of the pay roll as corrected by you, which I have paid to the recruits Enlisted by me, as will appear by the Enclosed receipt role; I cannot find any mode of Calculation by, which I can make 20 days pay at four dollars $month Amount to only two Dollar & fifty two Cents — I presume there must be some new mode established at your office, if so I shall be obliged by your transmitting it to me which will prevent me falling in error in future I am Sir
