Philadelphia 12th July 1798
Sir,
Since the receipt of your Order for Supplies to be forwarded to Baltimore for the two Ships equipping there on Public Account I have seen the Store Keeper, and find the enclosed to be a true State of the Store as it respects these supplies — I shall immediately make a requisition for the deficient Articles, and as soon as received forward them without delay agreeably to order

Sir —
When Lieut. Heminger produced the order for the Nine pounder Cannon it was agreed between him and me, that he should come in suitable craft, and with a party of his men to receive and get them on board — A naked Shallop with two men is sent to receive them, weighing at least thirty hundred each — We have no persons used to such work to command — they will therefore remain until the Party arrives from the Port to take them down.
