On a reference to the Pay roll I find you have made up the pay of sundry men confined for desertion, notwithstanding that the same is not deducted in the present instance you will at all times withhold so much as may have been due to them previous and during the time of their desertion (the former being forfeited to the United States) as well as any expences that may have been incurred in pursuing or apprehending them —
Agreeably to your request you will receive herewith some Blank Muster, Pay, & Receipt Rolls —
