Sir
The Secretary of War has shewn me your letter of the 14th instant. In consequence of an arrangement made you may expect to receive the Ordnance and Military Stores inserted in the enclosed invoice all of which are ordered to your address. A farther supply of ammunition to compleat the usual number of rounds to each piece will be sent to you shortly. It appears by your letter you cannot find the 24 Pounder inserted in the return, but you mention a 32 Pounder which is not noticed as we have the number of Cannon it is probable the mistake is in the Caliber. I wish you to inform me wether the 32 pounder as a mounther rather. Recd can be brought into use, if it can ammunition will be sent for it. With respect to the two Iron four pounders belonging to the United States, you are requested to make immediate application for them, and when received report their state, that order may be taken to bring them also into use. When the Ordnance and Military Stores intended for your post are all arrived, you will please to make me a return of them, stating particularly how they are dispose of and also what farther is necessary to be done to make and keep the whole in preservation and fit for immediate use. A similar return will be made quarterly noting any alterations that may take place by receiving, delivering, or expending any of the Stores.
