Philadelphia 29^th June 1798— Sir— I enclose two Lists of Tools wanted at Pittsburg and Knoxville, noteing particularly those in the Public Store, and those to be purchased— I shall be obliged by your taking immediate order on both as I have the mean of transportation at hand— I am Sir, Your Most Obedient Servant Samuel Hodgdon. Philadelphia 3 July 1798 Sir Your letter of the 2 instant is before me, I have settled with Cap^t L Homedieu for the freight of the Cannon and their Carriages, forty instead of fifty dollars was received in full payment— I was aware that some scruples would be raised on the conveyance of the Cannon ordered to several destinations, the same thing took place here, but all have gone forward notwithstanding— I am glad to find those for Charleston will go forward soon and I hope the others for Wilmington will speedily follow them— all idea of danger is given up, and the Public Stores coastwise, is now thought to give security to the Vessels that have, or board— By the enclosed Copy of my letter to M^r Faich, you will know the order by which the Knowledge comes to you— I wish you to keep seperate and destined accounts of the Knowledge received from Elizabeth Town, and Mount Hope furnace— I am Sir Your Most Obedient Servant Samuel Hodgdon.
