I received your letter of the 30 Ulto on the subject of a claim you have for Military service in the state of Tennesse, — On a reference to the account of William Richards acting Paymaster to the Militia I find a by role of a detachment commanded by you for services performed from the 24 June to the 8 July 94 amounting to 309 7/10 drs, which sum was placed in the hands of said Richard by David Henley for the purpose of disbursing the same to the individuals to whom it was due or to their representatives which has been done and the receipts forwarded to this Office among which is a receipt signed by you for Twenty dollars and fifty Cents being the full sum due you for that tour consequently if this is the services you allude to, you can have no claim on the United States or any of its agents but should it be for services performed at any other periods it will be necessary for you to give proper explanations before I can give you the information required —
