Albany... 26^th Jun^d. 1798 — Sir — Your favor dated March 22^d. 1798. as Duplicate, Came Safe to Hand about 10 o Clock in the evening Sunday Last, and as I do not received no other on the Subject, it has Given to me Little Anxiety. You Will be perhaps Astonished that my Acc^t. Current here enclosed is so much Limited, but I Will explain the Business. Last Year Sir, After my Returning from fort Schuyler, Canajoharry, &^c. a Letter from M^r. Hodgdon Was Sent to me to make a Statement of all my Disbursements, Expences, &^c. and Mention Likewise that my Acc^t. Should be Closed to the 31^st of August 1797. in Conformity of Which Order I have made the Statement and has Send in to Col^o. Hodgdon a few days after my Arrival. I have Searched all my Papers Since the arrival of Your Last upon the uncertainty, Whetever I have had Kept a Copy of that Statement in Order to Send it on to You and Enable You to See how in this Business, but Sir, As I have not Got the Copy, I Will thank you to Call on M^r. Hodgdon and Request him to Look for that Statement of mine, Which I Presume Lodges in his Office, unless it has been Mislaid. Howsomdever, As I have not received No public Money, (except my Salary,) from that time Co.^th August 1797, untill this date, and all my Vouchers for the public expenditures are in your Hands. It Will not be Very Difficult to peruse all my Vouchers Since my Arrival in Albany for the Moneys Received, Paid of and make proper Balance of my Acc^ts. from that time to this date, as it is Mentioned in my Acc^t. Current here enclosed, and to the best of my Knowledge. — I do not Know any thing further that I Can Say or do on the Subject. M^r. Caldwell desire to be remember to You With abundance of Compliments, and true Friendship, and has Gone on Journeys to Canada on Some Business.
