New York, June 26. 1798. Dear Sir Col. John Van Dyck was a Captain Lieutenant of Artillery in the late war. He has requested me to ask the favor of you to send him a true certificate of his having, after a final settlement of his accounts, had due to him of the late paymaster general Pierce, one month's pay as a member of the Cincinnati. He says he is confident that this was the case, tho there appears no evidence of it before the New York State Society.
