Ensign Hugh M^cCall Accountants Office Fort Wilkinson Georgia June 21 1798 Sir I have received your letters dated the 30 April & 29 Ult^o with their accompaniments— I find on examination of the Receipt rolls forwarded that M^r Habersham has omitted to forward N^o 177 to 214— I have written to him on this subject & mentioned to him that you had discovered this omission & promised to forward the Vouchers These accounts will in course meet an examination as well as your statements of Expenses &^c of the latter you will be informed what part if any will be allowed— The Public Store sold by Lieut Slough, I know of no particular act of Congress for recovering [strikethrough: the] indeed I think a representation ought to come from you to the Secretary of War on this subject, he in my opinion is the most proper person to judge of the steps necessary to be taken in the recovery— After I had written you on the subject of Cap^t Webb's pay— It struck me that to pay him without an express act of Congress in his favor would be improper— I shall therefore refuse settling his claim & he will have his redress by applying to Congress— The Estimate forwarded by you in your letter of the 29 Ult
