The following is a Copy of a Memorandum which I gave to the Officer Under whose command he was left — The Commanding officer of Fort Fayette will remember that Charles Stuart late of Cap^t J. Levers Company was sentenced by a Regimental Court Martial to be put under regular Stoppages untill he reimburse to the U. States the sum of Twenty four Dollars, that [undecipherable] of that Sum has been Stopped and that S^d Stuart is to be kept under Stoppages untill the Ballance as paid which is Three Dollars Signed [undecipherable] Lieut 3^rd U.S. Regt. Sir I have taken the liberty of encloseing to your care a letter Directed to Tho. Lewis Cap^t 3^d U.
