[9 June 1798 Geo. Solomon] Dear Sir — Baltimore 9^th June 1798. I wrote to you a few days ago enclosing your act after charging 3 shares of Stock bought for you and giving credit for 800 dollars rec^d from M^r Wausland and your Dividend at the Bank of Balt^o. for the last six months, afterwards a balance of 526-39$ remains to your credit in new act. I find that my Son George is not very anxious about quitting the Army now [strikethrough: ht] the probability is, that his services may be required more perhaps than ever, but I believe he finds it difficult to support himself on the pay and rations of an Ensign — as an Army of Ten Thousand Men are to be raised with Officers &^c — do you think My Dear Sir he could be promoted so as to make his situation more eligible, these troops may very likely be stationed near the Sea coast which would be more pleasing than a statipation in the Wilderness — he has been near four Years an Officer and on that act may be considered as having a claim for preferment.
