Sir
Several Hogsheads and dozens are packed with Clothing for the Army, in consequence of what passed between me and the Secretary of War. Wish you to give me marks for them that will be proper for sending them to Pittsburg. If you cannot be particular as to consigning you may as to Regiments for instance, I suppose most of the Clothing for the first Regiment will go by that rout. The second to Knoxville & so on. Wish to advise myself of the present goodness of the roads, and consequent low rate of Transportation.
Yours sincerely
Mr Nathan Jones Samuel Hodgdon

Sir
Your letter of the 1st instant is before me. The Naval Stores you mention are for the Vessels on the [undecipherable: Lakes?], furnished, I presume on Returns received from the Commander in Chief. At present we have no more Guns to forward as was contemplated at the time my letter to which you alluded was wrote, but I still think the [underline: original number] will be provided and forwarded as soon as the pressing calls of the moment will suit; you will therefore do well to proceed in the preparations as far as you can without the Guns, as they may & probably will vary in issue; your Drafts shall be honored as usual.
I shall note the information relative to Taylor & conduct accordingly. The Secretary of War goes to New York on Sunday and myself in the course of the Week —
