[Page 386] Cap^t Thomas Lewis 3^d US Reg^t Accountants Office June 7^th 1798 Sir Annexed is duplicate of what I wrote on the 25 Ult^o respecting your account since that date I have rec a letter from M^r Hugh Caperton off which enclosed is a copy, he was charg with the sum of eight hundred dollars advanced to you by the Sec of War on the 13 March 1792, to be conveyed to him for the Recruiting Service, he having been appointed a Captain of a Rifle company, but as he did not accept the appointment and deny's ever having received the money in question, it remains to be accounted for by it has been transferred to the debit of your account on the Books of this Office for that purpose, expecting your reply — I am Sir W Simm^s Acc^t --- Cap^t Frederick Frye Governors Island, near New York Accountants Office June 8^th 1798 Sir I received your letter of the 2^nd Inst the different vouchers therein mentioned, which have undergone exam and are found free of error you will accordingly receive a credit on the Books of this Office for the amount of the Receipt Rolls being one thousand five hundred & sixty four dollars & fifty Cents you will also receive from Nicholas Fish Esq^r supervisor at New York the sum I
