Annexed is duplicate of what I wrote on the 25 Ulto respecting your account since that date I have received a letter from Mr Hugh Caperton of which enclosed is a copy, he was charged with the sum of eight hundred dollars advanced to you by the the of May on the 13 March 1792, to be conveyed to him for the Recruiting Service, he having been appointed a Captain of a Rifle company, but as he did not accept the appointment and deny's ever having received the money in question, it remains to be accounted for by you, it has been transferred to the debit of your account on the Books of this Office for that purpose, expecting your reply —
