Philadelphia 6^th June 1798. Sir Captain Elliott requests he may have two hard weather Flags of the usual dimensions sent to him for the use of his Garrison. He also suggests the propriety of sending him a further supply of Powder having only five hundred weight on hand. — If you conclude to send the Flags they must be purchased — A further supply of powder if ordered may go from Springfield [undecipherable] Sam. Sir, Yesterday I rec^d your favor of the 27^th Ultimo — I am much obliged by the arrangement made, and the dispatch with which it has been executed in getting forward the heavy Cannon to their several destinations. It was well done to send those for Savanna & Georgetown & Charleston as it will facilitate their getting to their destined places. I hope those for Wilmington will go forward shortly if not already gone, the Expenses shall be paid as you direct. I have made a requisition for the hard weather Flags and for a further supply of Shot and Powder, the result I will communicate shortly — The Stove and Pipe shall be furnished timely to prevent further inconveniencies of the kind you mention. I have some expectation that you will be sent for to Superintend a Laboratory about to be established here or at New York. [undecipherable] Sam.
