Sir To enable M^r Holt to make payment of the sums inserted in the enclosed Estimate amounting to Five hundred & Seventy two Dollars and Seventy two Cents, and to enable me to make his Drafts for the Sum of Seven hundred and seventy Dollars twenty five Cents being the Amount of the missing Port Notes of which you have been advised, I request a Warrant in his favor as advance for the Sum of Thirteen hundred and forty two Dollars and forty four Cts to be hereafter accounted for. Sir In addition to the Cannon already ordered from your Post, I want eight six Pounders and eight two Pounders with their Field Carriages compleat to be sent if possible directly to the address of John Harris Noble Store keeper in this City. — If you can in a reasonable time find a vessel coming from Hartford for this Port you can make the Shipment direct, if you cannot find one coming directly to this City, you will please to ship them to Melanston Smith Esq^r in New York with information that they are to be reshipped as above mentioned — I shall however in this case write to him fully on the Subject — You will let me know as early as possible by Post in which way the Cannon may be expected — If the Guns are sent to New York M^r Smith will pay the Freight, if to this City, I will discharge it agreeably to such contract as you may make.
